Since the ePub format does not support items of the URL Link type in the Table of Contents, HelpSmith will create special pages for such links.

Type

Specifies the way a page for a URL Link item will be generated. You can use a standard page for a URL item generated by default, or you can use a custom HTML template. Also, it is possible to disable generation of pages for URL Link items.

The following settings are available for a specific URL page generation type.

Standard URL Pages

A standard page containing a clickable link will be displayed when clicking on a URL Link item in the Table of Contents.

To customize the style of the URL address displayed on the page, you can use the Font and Paragraph buttons.

HTML Template

URL page HTML template

You can use the HTML Editor to provide custom HTML code that will be used for generation of the page displayed when clicking on an item of the URL Link type in the Table of Contents in ePub.

The HTML Editor allows you to insert text variables, color codes in the HTML notation, images from the media repository, and also to use special tags that define if a block of the HTML code should be included during the compilation depending on the selected build tags.

For more details on using the HTML Editor, you can visit this topic.

Please note that for generation of a URL page, a special <%#URL%> variable is used that will be replaced with the actual URL address defined in the properties of the URL Link item.
